Michael Monroe brings everything to the table with this Jack Douglas produced masterpiece, 'Sensory Overdrive'. It really is rare these days to find a band of such quality that can deliver both on stage and in the studio....Monroe & Co can, make no doubt about that!
Bringing former New York Doll[s] Steve Conte, and Sami Yaffa into the fray was something of a masterstroke, and the Dolls obvious loss, is certainly Monroe's gain. This band kick ass in every way possible. Michael has always written some of the best songs in rock n roll, with an energy that goes beyond the realms of superhuman...in fact, he's a superpowered human being...the song playin', 'Superpowered Superfly' takes you back to the glorious 1970's....when bands could write melody...Monroe is a AAA student of those days and a fine songwriter. This has the classic sound of Hanoi all over it, but with a hark back to The Sweet and even Slade....Great stuff!
As a frontman, they don't come any better than this guy, and back him up with a fuckin' raaawwwking band, and they're untouchable!
This album comes ahead of a short Scandinavian Tour, a full-on UK Tour and some Euro shows before heading out to Japan. { At the time of writing, that is unconfirmed }, and is sure to be a massive success for the band.
I may be wrong, but I don't think Robert Christgau has ever given an A+ to ANYTHING he's ever listened to, but fuck him, we will !!!
