Psycho DeVilles Live In Atlanta

By Cyndi Ford

Rockabilly is alive and doing just fine, thanks to Atlanta’s own Psycho DeVilles.
It was New Year’s eve, and the crowd at the local pub was in for a treat.
These guys usually play the bigger venues downtown, so the fact that they had come
out to the burbs was quite special. They have quite a following, and always
promise a good crowd; Rightfully so, these guys rock~

They opened the show with a Johnny Cash song, not a bad way to get things going.
They followed up with some originals and even threw in some Ramones, now that was epic.
Walt Richards, the guitar player/singer plays two Gretsch’s, and obviously had to
include Stray Cat Blues to the set list. When I spoke with Walt about obtaining a set list, he said, “don’t have one, we will be doing 3 sets and playing 60 songs.”
That statement blew me away.

The Psycho DeVilles put on a very entertaining show visually as well.
The bass player lights his upright bass on fire, and Walt was on top of the bar
with his guitar; and not to be left out of the show the drummer would bat back the
crushed PBR cans that were thrown at him by their fans that follow them to every show.

They were like a circus act with their stunts to say the least, but never missing a note; Very impressive.

The Psycho DeVilles have played all over the southeast and did a short tour of Europe
a few months back. So they are spreading the word that rockabilly is indeed still alive and doing oh so well.
